A periodic inspection is an inspection on the condition of an existing electrical installation, to identify (in order of priority) any deficiencies against the national safety standard for electrical installations. Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and age and will reveal if any of your electrical circuits or equipment are overloaded. Find any potential electric shock risks and fire hazards. Identify any defective electrical work. Highlight any lack of earthing or bonding.
Periods between subsequent inspections will depend on the condition of the installation at the time of the preceding inspection, but it is recommended that periodic inspection and testing is carried out at least every five years or at the end of a tenancy, whichever comes first.
