The Benefits of a Modern Fuse Board

Did you know that in Ireland there were 64 electrocutions or deaths from the explosive/burning effects of electricity from 1997 to the end of 2017?

Of these deaths, 42 have been associated with a work activity.

The remaining 23 instances occurred in domestic situations or were the result of trespass, vandalism or in one case a fallen overhead power line.

It is often the case that an accident or fatality will involve an electrical fitting that is faulty or outdated. It is for this reason that we recommend ensuring all of your electrical fixtures are up to date, in particular your fuse boards, as old fuse boards are rone to malfunction. Alliance Ireland provides a market leading fuse board upgrade service to our domestic and commercial clients, improving both safety and efficiency. The modern fuse board or MCB Board shown below has protective devices designed specifically to protect people from electric shock,

1. Question: What are a Residual Current Devices (RCD’s) or Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Over Current Protection (RCBO’s)

2. Answer: They both do the same thing, they protect people from electric shock, and are an Essential Safety Element in any premises, whether it is in a domestic, commercial or Industrial premise.

MCB’s protect appliances or equipment from overloading or short circuiting of the circuit supplying them. For more information on our domestic services, please review our domestic electricians page.
